How We Do It

Sinclair & Company uses an architectural approach to map current and future desired states against resources available with which to build. We expect that through our work we will be helping in some small way to reinvent investment as usual. Whether explicit or implicit, we aim to integrate sustainability themes for our client investment decisions around the world, and especially in emerging markets.

We help clients integrate ESG in a handful of strategic investment decisions to make a material impact on investment as usual. Our role is to help investors decide what sustainability themes to plan for and how to build them into their investment approach and monitor its execution over asset classes, investee entities and regions. We aim to be the world-class player in this niche player. We are independent. Our lean operation allows us to be the specialist that an investor seeks to call in quickly and discreetly. For larger projects we will pull in partners to handle key sections, just as a structural architect would. Sinclair & Company will only accept design mandates for a client portfolio to which we may guarantee quality work. We therefore have the freedom to pay attention to each unique client, from design to rollout.

Driven by increased demand from consumers, politicians and regulators, new investment flows are channeling into a next generation of sustainability themed investment vehicles dedicated to green and clean technologies, into addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation. All trend indicators are upward to meet the demand from different investor segments ranging from practical to ethical to socially responsible to religious investment objectives. We help institutions and investors by asking simple questions that open the doors to solving the challenges in sustainability+investmentSM.

Investment Architecture  Minimize

Sinclair & Company typically begins each engagement by conducting a review of the strategy in place to identify gaps and underlying principles, the thinking behind the future architecture, the processes and platforms available to execute with, and how the approach plays out in practice. To accomplish this, we use a proprietary 6P model that provides a synopsis of the current investment architecture and a gap analysis, mapping the effort and timeframe to rolling out an ESG component to investment analysis and portfolio management. We have experience in developing architecture across regions, developed & emerging markets, and across equity, fixed income, property, and alternative investments.

Investment Advisory  Minimize

Our experience shows that even the best investment firms, while having good key investment disciplines and departments, struggle to integrate ESG factors and develop sustainability factors where the culture and resources are misaligned. We assist both large and small investment firms in considering the risks and opportunities of integrating ESG factors present to their business, exploring both manufacturing and distribution components of investment practice. We help pension funds actively seeking better sustainability/ESG investment managers to make better informed decisions with more reliable results.
